In 1977 ITEA (Istituto Trentino per l’Edilizia Abitativa - Trentino Housing Institute) commissioned the artist Luigi Senesi to undertake “a colour study for an imminent 82-unit residential complex in Povo, Trento”. The inspired commission was the result of a shared focus on the relationship between architecture and the environment by the Institute and Senesi, who at the time was a member of the Landscape Protection Commission. A few months later, in April 1978, Senesi died prematurely in a train accident, and the project was abandoned. What remains is the study, an acrylic on canvas of over 2 metres in length by just over 60 centimetres in width, on deposit at the Mart. The painting is on display at Mart for the centenary of ITEA.
