Young people - the main target audience of Mart's public program throughout the two years of The Floor is Yours - were the protagonists of the last initiative, co-designed with La Foresta and addressed to students in their last year of high school at Liceo Artistico Depero in Rovereto.

In the first workshop, held at the Mart on 21 October 2024, students had the opportunity to explore the spaces of the museum, including the Collections closed to the public due to deinstallation.  Walking through those empty spaces, stripped of artworks, allowed them to experience the museum from a new and thought-provoking point of view. The bare walls, like an ideal blank canvas, were an opportunity to imagine new ways of interpreting the museum spaces.

The second workshop took place at La Foresta on 13 November. It was a creative and collaborative context that allowed participants to explore the topic of mapping and designing museum spaces.  Here, students began to translate their reflections into concrete proposals, experimenting with innovative working methods and sharing ideas within a inspiring environment.  Three main types of spaces were identified to make the Mart an increasingly welcoming place: shared spaces, places for meeting and dialogue, where the museum becomes a place for sociality as well as culture; green spaces designed to integrate nature into the museum, providing opportunities for relaxation and an immersive and sustainable experience; and innovative spaces and itineraries, characterised by new ways of presenting art, favouring interactivity, public involvement and cutting-edge technological solutions.

Design students from Class 5A of Liceo Depero then developed these ideas in groups as part of their Interior Design workshop, coordinated by Professor Milena Tonolli. Finally, they displayed their ideas on three large-format boards that were presented at the Mart on 11 March in an event with the Education Area staff and the Head of the Collections, Denis Isaia.

The aim of this project is visionary: to envision the Mart of the future in collaboration with young people, transforming it into an increasingly inclusive and dynamic space.
