For the second residency of the project The Floor is Yours, Mart welcomed the association Nachbarinnen, local partner of mumok museum in Vienna, and community academy La Foresta, local partner of Mart in Rovereto, from 20 to 23 February. The two associations explored, experienced and delved into the reality of the museum and the Casa D'Arte Futurista Depero, drawing inspiration to co-design a workshop on Fortunato Depero.

Nachbarinnen is a well-established association in urban Vienna. With a name that translates to ‘The Female Neighbours’, the association aims to integrate and involve the community of foreign women in the city, supporting them and promoting their self-empowerment. La Foresta was founded in 2017 in a reclaimed space at Rovereto's train station and is a community academy that aims to foster a positive eco-social transformation of the local area through a number of projects.

The three-day residency was all about exchange, co-design and connections. It led to a workshop held on the afternoon of 22 February at the Casa D'Arte Futurista Depero, which involved the local association Ubalda Bettini Girella.

After a guided tour in Arabic of the Casa D'Arte Futurista and a tea break, the women of the Ubalda Bettini Girella association took part in a workshop that had been planned in the previous days. The theme chosen for the workshop was the future, based on participants' account of the past.  Based on the search for significant details that reflected them, the women made a collage together inspired by the Depero's works, creating a symbolic weave imbued with their own stories.

The workshop was a confirmation that art does not only invite contemplation, but is an opportunity for its users to look forward and communicate without barriers: to build relationships, realise projects, and aim for the future.

The residency concluded with a public seminar, which was attended by the two local partners as well as the Boijmans Museum, Mart and mumok, the international partners of The Floor is Yours project. Starting with a presentation of the different phases of the project, this event was an opportunity to exchange good practices and reflect on different approaches to co-design.

The residency planned for November 2024 in Vienna will be the next opportunity to meet and exchange on The Floor is Yours project.
