Focus | Dialogues on modernity

Mart Rovereto
15 February 2021 / 18 April 2021

art’s permanent exhibition is being supplemented with a new section: a project which focuses on two of the museum’s collections and on Mart’s now customary participation at the ArtVerona Level 0 Prize.
The Focus is a multi-voice dialogue on the modernity lexicon from the 1960s to today. It is introduced by a selection from the Rita Levi Montalcini donation, Nobel Prize for Medicine winner who left a large number of poly-material works by her sister Paola to Mart. Two of these were the subject of an experimental project performed in conjunction with the Istituto Superiore per la Conservazione e il Restauro: an analysis aimed to restore their significantly deteriorated materials and set up a new maintenance monitoring system.
The exhibition continues with the Mira Forte Caizzi bequest on its first showing outside the private collecting context, featuring some of the great names in post-World War Two art: Arnaldo Pomodoro, Emilio Isgrò and Mario Schifano.
The itinerary ends with more recent work by Pesce Khete, exponent of the young Italian painting scene and Mart winner of the seventh edition of Level 0 Prize. His imposing paper works feature densely interweaving marks and script generated via a feverish and instinctive creative process.
